The Echuca Moama Search & Rescue squad was formed in 1966, funded by local support of Services Clubs and sponsorship from Echuca Moama business and a lot of tin rattling by its members. The squad was the first independent rescue squad in Victoria, and it and the Shepparton Search & Rescue group are the only independent rescue accredited groups in Victoria to this day. We constantly work in with the Victorian Police, CFA & SES & Ambulance Victorian. On stand by 24-7 we are called out to Vehicle accidents where people are entrapped in a vehicle, missing persons lost on land or missing in waterways within our region. All of our volunteers are qualified in First aid. We have just recently been donated by Sweet & Stream group drones, and these will be online to assist in search missions & acquiring images of a Road crash. These images will be used if the accident becomes a crime scene supporting the Police with total layout images of the accident, but more important once the images of the accident are taken it will allow us full maneuverability while trying to free any victims in the crash. We have two specialize boats designed for rescue work with maximum stability for overall safety

training in power tools such as Jaws of life, spreaders and many other specialized tools required to allow us to save trapped people in vehicles
training includes the correct use of radios and other specialized procedures
We have a 3 phase training program – Simulator, training drone and then solo on a basic work drone. All training will be too high CASA standards and conducted by our qualified CASA Chief Pilot. All you have to do is register with CASA as a sub 2Kg user.
A boat licence is required, and from there we teach your our rescue techniques.
